In the mind of an engineer, all problems are just opportunities to solve a solvable problem. How does this outlook impact one's ability to connect with others? Does it create a more complicated structure of connection or encourage collaboration?
In most areas of life, we are unable to do everything alone. Isolation is one of the most common ways our well-being is impacted. In today's world, creating a connection is vital for our survival, although less than half of adults today (according to a quick Google search) socialize with friends in person daily or weekly.
This significantly impacts our ability to build healthy connections with others. How can you utilize the questions below to enhance your daily connections with those around you?
Family/Kids: What is the first question you ask your kids/spouse/roommate when you see them?
Personal /Self: What is your first question in a social setting? What does that say about you to other people? What do you want it to say?
Clients/students - How does your body language signal a connection to others? What do you want that signal to say?
Work/professional— Is the perception of your coworkers the same or different than your coworker's perception of you? How do you know?
Nature— What does nature say to you? How does it communicate energy? When do you notice it the most? Why? Storms? Sunny weather? Rain?
Community/online networks—How does our community affect our ability to thrive? Does it make an impact and if so, how do we cultivate the community we want?
