Recognizing when someone is offering us a connection can look different for everyone. When do we notice it, if at all? How do we reciprocate their bid?
Think of a time when you realized you missed a bid for connection? What was your first reaction once you realized you missed it? Were you surprised? Would you have responded differently?
Take a moment to reflect on where you experience bids for connection. Are they at work, home, or out in public? Our world has changed how we approach bids for connection out in the world. How do we evaluate them or recognize them in the moment?
Family/Kids: Our family can be the most complicated dynamic we interact with. How does your family bid for connection? What is your response when they do?
Personal /Self: Reflect on your connection practices. Where are your bids to others missed? Do you ignore bids to connect with yourself?
Clients/students - Where is the bid for connection when building rapport? How do you respond to it?
Work/professional— Are bids for connection complex or simple at work? Why does that matter? How do they impact your day?
Nature—How does nature impact our ability to recognize a bid for connection? What ways does nature bid for a connection?
Community/online networks—What does a bid for connection look like in your community and how do you recognize it? Have you missed one lately?
